Riedel Glass for Oregon Pinot Noir
There's sure been a lot of interest in our story on the development of a new Riedel glass specifically designed for Oregon Pinot Noir (you can see the story in the November/December issue of Northwest Palate, available on newsstands throughout the Northwest, and in select markets elsewhere)! Most everyone wants to know when and where they can get one of these new beauties for themselves (and how much will it cost?).
I just got off the phone (9:24 am, November 2, 2006) with the Riedel VP of sales for the West Coast who confirmed that final release dates and pricing for this new glass have not yet been determined. Riedel is working with the International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC) on the development and marketing of this new glass, and not all details have been completed, in part because some of the key people on the Oregon "glass team" have been exclusively occupied with the 2006 harvest (gee, I guess it doesn't make much sense to put out a new glass if there isn't enough wine to fill it with . . . so I'd rather these folks concentrate on making their wine first, then worry about the glass!). She did say the company was well aware of the interest in this new glass, and that they and the IPNC hoped to have all the details finalized very soon.
The Riedel folks have promised to keep me informed of any news, and I'll be checking in with the Oregon team on a regular basis. I’ll post any new information I have here just as soon as I have it, so stay tuned--and in the meantime, I'm treasuring my single sample of the new glass, and using it sparingly: hands off, everyone else!

Any updates on the Pinot glass?
As of December 11 there is nothing new to report on the Oregon Pinot noir Riedel glass. There are discussions underway, but a firm schedule of production and release does not appear to have been reached yet. I will post new info as soon as I get it--but thanks for keeping track!
